Benefactors of Red Crescent honoured

Abu Dhabi, Aug 18, 2011 (WAM) - Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has said the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, plays a pivotal role in responding to disasters and alleviating human suffering worldwide.
Sheikh Hamdan was speaking at a ceremony to honour the chief benefactors who continue to support the Red Crescent Authority in its global humanitarian activities throughout the year.
He also said the initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, enhance the humanitarian approach the UAE has adopted to help people who suffer from various calamities across the world.
"The values of goodness and generosity is rooted in the hearts of our people who have followed the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan," said Sheikh Hamdan.
He added that the Red Crescent Authority will continue to discharge the humanitarian responsibilities placed on it under all circumstances. The ceremony held at the Nakheel Palace to honour the major benefactors was attended by a number of senior officials. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
