Chechen President, Nahyan bin Mubarak open Zayed Holy Quran Centre

Grozny - Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov and UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan inaugurated here the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Centre for Holy Quran Memorisation.
The Chechen head of state said the Islamic centre, the largest of its kind in North Caucasus, was named after Sheikh Zayed in tribute of the critical role he played to promote the culture of tolerance, love and peace among peoples regardless of their race and affiliation.
''The prominent profile and standing of the UAE founding father had gone beyond the Arab World boundaries to other parts of the world thanks to his noble stances and far-sighted vision which enabled the UAE to achieve progress and offer assistance to peoples of the region at times of ordeal,'' he said.
President Kadyrov added that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is now following the same path the late Sheikh Zayed charted as evident in its humanitarian policy at the international scene, standing beside those in distress and in need.
He lauded Sheikh Zayed as a true leader who succeeded in a record time to make the UAE a model of progress and prosperity. His ambition transcended the UAE to launch humanitarian, cultural and religious initiatives in other countries.
Chechnya, he asserted, is attaching significant importance to its relations with the UAE for the sake of serving mutual interests.
He noted that he didn't had the honour of meeting Sheikh Zayed personally but his father, the former mufti (chief scholar) and president of Chechnya had informed him about Sheikh Zayed's virtuous acts and stances, his bravery and honesty.
''As we open the Sheikh Zayed Centre for the Holy Quran on the seventh anniversary of his death, our hope is to instil his good traits of humbleness and leadership in our children,'' he said.
For his part, Sheikh Nahyan asserted the UAE would continue to interact and partner with other countries to serve the humanity and open up new horizons for development and progress.
Sheikh Nahyan toured various facilities and units of the state-of-the-art centre which was built on an area of 40 hectares to include classrooms, sports complex, a mosque, and living and dining halls for teachers and students. Every year, the Centre receives 100 male and female students from Chechnya and other neighbouring Islamic countries.
Sheikh Nahyan and his host, the Chechen president, attended the opening of the grand mosque in Jalka area and performed afternoon prayer at the worshiping house that accommodates 5000 persons. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
