Leaders greet people on Id, Ganesh Chaturthi

New Delhi, Aug 30 (PTI) The President, the
Vice-President and the Prime Minister Tuesday greeted the
people on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr and Ganesh Chaturthi to
be celebrated on Wednesday.
"On the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr, it is my
immense pleasure in offering Id Mubarak to all our people in
India and abroad," President Pratibha of India Patil said in a
message.
"May this festival strengthen mutual goodwill and
inspire each one of us to follow the path of love, friendship
and harmony," she said.
In his message, Vice-President Hamid Ansari said "I
offer my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of
our country on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Fitr which marks
the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan."
Greeting the country on Ganesh Chaturthi, he said "Lord
Ganesha is invoked before commencing any auspicious work.
Ganesh Chaturthi reminds us of the importance of imbibing the
sublime and eternal values in our lives. May this festival
bring peace, harmony and prosperity in our lives."
In his message, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said "the
festival of Eid highlights the spirit of sacrifice and the joy
of sharing. The celebrations marking the end of the Ramzan
fasting foster peace and harmony and reflect the true spirit
of our composite culture."
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also conveyed her
greetings and good wishes to the people on the occasion of the
two festivals.
