Sino-Indian dialogue later this year

New Delhi, Aug 30 (PTI) The next round of Sino-Indian
talks on the border question are expected to be held late
October or early November this year.
It will be the turn of China's Special Representative
Dai Bingguo to come to India for talks with his Indian
counterpart and National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon.
The venue is yet to be decided.
There have been 14 rounds of talks held between the two
sides since 2003 when it was decided to elevate the dialogue
to a Special Representative level.
The mandate of the talks is to set out the broad
principles and political parameters for resolving the vexed
boundary question.
Already the countries have crossed the half-way stage
of producing a framework for drawing the boundary line.
New Delhi feels that it need not not do whatever
Beijing does on the border but strengthen capacity to deal
with situations that may arise.
