Maldivian Minister stresses strategic importance of ties with India

New Delhi, Sep 13 (PTI) Visiting Maldivian Defence
Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Tuesday emphasised the strategic
importance of relations with India and hoped that they would
grow in future to address mutual interests.
Ibrahim, who is here at the invitation of his Indian
counterpart A K Antony, Tuesday visited the Institute of
Defence Studies and Analyses and discussed the issues of
global and regional interest with the scholars of the
think-tank.
During his interaction, Ibrahim "emphasised the strategic
importance of India-Maldives relations and expressed the hope
that these would grow in future to mutual interest."
Appreciating that government-to-government relations
between the two countries are growing satisfactorily, he
stressed the need for enhancing people-to-people contacts.
