Pakistan's Parliament Speaker lauds UAE's humanitarian role
Abu Dhabi, Sept 15, 2011 (WAM) - Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza has hailed the humanitarian efforts of UAE and its continuing support and assistance to Pakistan in times of natural disasters.
In a meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Mirza recalled UAE's participation in several development projects in Pakistan. This stance of UAE asserts the depth of relations between the UAE and Pakistan, Dr. Mirza added.
The Speaker was accompanied by Pakistan Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan.
During the meeting, which was held at the MoFT headquarters, they discussed the means of boosting bilateral cooperation in various fields especially in trade and investment.
Sheikha Lubna also stressed the importance of the corporate social responsibility UAE firms in Pakistan as well as the Pakistani companies in the UAE bear, and noted that their contribution supplements the government level assistance in times of natural calamities. The meeting was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade Abdullah Al Saleh.
On another level, Dr. Fehmida Mirza paid a visit to the headquarters of the UAE Red Crescent Authority in Abu Dhabi.
She thanked the UAE led by His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for standing beside Pakistan in times of trial, especially during the natural disasters that struck several parts of the country. She was received by Chairman of the Board of Directors of RCA Ahmed Humaid Al Mazroui and other officials. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
