Malaysian Magazine: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture
Abu Dhabi, Sept 15, 2011 (WAM) - A prominent Malaysian Magazine - Aswaq - has said that the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is one of the most radiant masterpieces of Islamic architecture in the world.
The magazine said in an illustrated article prepared in cooperation with the Directorate of External Information at the National Media Council of the UAE that this edifice, that is representative of the Islamic world civilisation, reflects the philosophy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the United Arab Emirates to build a mosque where the cultures meet under the symbol of Islam and where the worshippers can congregate under the dome that shelters art, culture and heritage.
The article recalled the story of the mosque since the time it was conceptualised by the late Sheikh Zayed early in 1996 as an Islamic edifice that will deepen the Islamic culture, its religious values of tolerance and as a centre for various Islamic sciences. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
