Sikkim CM visits quake affected areas

Gangtok, Sept 19 (PTI) Northeastern Indian state Sikkim
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Monday visited quake-hit
areas in and around the town here to assess damages.
Accompanied by ministers and top officers, Chamling
toured the Tashiling secretariat, offices in and around the
secretariat complex and Sikkim press and police headquarters
damaged by the last evening's earthquake, official sources
said.
The chief minister also met two people whose houses had
collapsed at Lumsey locality.
Chamling held a meeting at police headquarters to discuss
modalities for dealing with the situation, they said.
He directed authorities to make an assessment of the
loss, start immediate repair works and restore electricity and
road communication.
Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh returned here this noon
from New Delhi and was apprised of the situation by the chief
minister.
The governor asked the army to coordinate with the state
administration to assess damages, they added
