Abu Dhabi University to launch online courses and implement e-learning strategy

Abu Dhabi, Sept 28, 2011 (WAM) - Abu Dhabi University announced the implementation of its e-learning strategy with plans to offer undergraduate and postgraduate students on-line courses during this academic year, that follow the standards and regulations implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding e-learning.
The initiative which is part of a comprehensive plan that ADU has developed to further its advancement and ensure its position among the top Arab Universities in the world by 2013, aims to revolutionise conventional teaching techniques and establish itself as the leading centre for e-learning in the region, according to an emailed press release by Abu Dhabi University.
Addressing ADU's faculty and staff at the annual convocation meeting which was held on both its Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University Dr. Nabil Ibrahim explained that the university's strategic plan is a based on a shared vision, pride in quality, focused and achievable goals, innovation, and responsiveness to change. He added: "We pride ourselves on our commitment to adhering to international standards in teaching, research, community service and contributing in national and regional capacity building through the students who graduate from ADU".
Provost of Abu Dhabi University, Dr. James Mackin explained that the importance of the annual convocation meeting is that it represents an opportunity for ADU's faculty and staff to review previous achievements and assess the future challenges that face the university, as well as participate in developing the university's upcoming plans. He pointed out that ADU's continuing success in the fields of teaching, research and community service increases its responsibility and commitment to achieving international standards, as well as continue to develop intellectual capital, focus on research and encourage student engagement. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
