GCAA launches on-line facility for Bird Strike and Wildlife Hazard Reporting

Abu Dhabi, Sept 28, 2011 (WAM) - The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has launched an On-Line Facility for Bird Strike and Wildlife Hazard Reporting as part of the existing Reporting of Safety Incidents (ROSI) system.
This fourth module, available to all users of the GCAA's ROSI system, facilitates not only mandatory industry reporting but also establishes an essential interface between the GCAA and ICAO in relation to the ICAO Bird Strike Information System as well as collection of Operator Cost and Engine Damage Information.
The Bird Strike feature is in addition to existing Flight Operation, Air Traffic Control and Aerodrome modules introduced in 2010. The ROSI system is a state-of-the-art system that serves as the essential mechanism for the GCAA's National centralised mandatory reporting scheme and underpins the development of acceptable levels of safety within the aviation industry.
"The new ROSI Bird Strike module represents another successful e-service initiative underpinning the GCAA's State Safety Programme. The development further creates a rich repository of highly relevant operational data that, upon analysis, can provide significant safety insights. The system and interface to ICAO demonstrate GCAA's commitment to safe operations by the application of world's best practices." commented Ismaeil Al Balooshi, Executive Director Aviation Safety Affairs Sector. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
