UAE Foreign Minister holds talks with presidents, foreign ministers
New York, Sept. 25, 2008 (WAM) -- UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Tuesday a number of heads of state and foreign ministers of countries participating at the 63rd meeting of the UN General Assembly.
Sheikh Abdullah held talks with President of Comoros Ahmad Abdullah Muhammad Sambi over mechanisms of enhancing joint cooperation in areas of economy, development and investment. Sambi expressed to Sheikh Abdullah the gratitude of his government to the UAE for building hospitals and roads and assisting it to clearing its foreign debts.
The UAE minister also met with President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal to discuss the issue of restructuring UAE debts to Senegal.
The UAE foreign minister also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Luxembourg, Serbia, Australia, Singapore, Paraguay, Nicaragua and Andorra as well as US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia.
Regional and international issues of mutual concern, topics on the agenda of the UN General Assembly meeting as well as ways of boosting bilateral economic and cultural relations were figured high during Sheikh Abdullah's audiences with those officials.
