DON'T POLITICISE ROLE OF PUBLIC SERVANTS - RULER
KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Oct 3 (Bernama) -- The Ruler of Peninsular Malaysia's east coast state of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, on Monday reminded all quarters against politicising the role and responsibilities of public servants to safeguard the country's prosperity.
"I do not want the role of public servants to be politicised because this will delay development process and inconvenient the people," he said when opening the 14th conference of the Malaysian public service commissions here on Monday.
Also present at the function were Pahang Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Adnan Yaakob and Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Jamaluddin Ahmad Damanhuri.
Sultan Ahmad Shah also said the public servants should be committed to their jobs to ensure the government's aspiration could be achieved.
The love for the country should be in the heart of all public servants if the public service was to be more efficient and effective, he added.
Meanwhile, Jamaluddin said the efforts were made by the service commissions to achieve the government's aspiration of making the public service more competitive and to overcome brain-drain in the sector.
This included the introduction of the "My-Recruitment" by PSC where
candidates applying for posts would be required to got through four levels of screenings, he added.
He said a total of 8,882 Pahang born children had been appointed to various posts in the public service for the last two years.
