MALAYSIAN ICT FIRMS RAKE IN US$13.4 MLN IN POTENTIAL SALES

JAKARTA, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian information and communications
technology (ICT) companies recorded RM42.43 million (US$13.4 million) in
potential sales at last week’s Specialised Marketing Mission on Software and
ICT-Related Services here.

The business opportunities included data warehouse; information technology
infrastructure solutions; oil and gas solutions; hospital information system;
software as a service product; financial management solution for local council;
intelligent media delivery platform; college management system; anti-money
laundering solution; insurance solution; and, tracking solution for
transportation.

In a statement here on Friday, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp
(Matrade) said two of the participating firms had signed partnership agreement
and memorandum of understanding with local companies during the mission for
Integrated Insurance Solution and Hospital Information System.

"The response received by Malaysian participants during the mission was
encouraging. The potential sales recorded clearly showed that Malaysian software
and ICT-related services are of good quality and compatible with the
international requirements," it said.

A total of 63 Malaysian delegates from 36 companies participated in the
mission from Sept 26-29, 2011.

It was led by Matrade and supported by the Multimedia Development Corp and
Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia.

The mission aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration between
Malaysian and Indonesian companies in software and ICT-related services,
promoting exports of Malaysian software and ICT services to Indonesia as well as
strengthening business networks between Malaysia and Indonesia.

The participation in the mission has also enabled the Malaysian ICT firms to
familiarise themselves with the business environment in Indonesia and outreach
to the vast Indonesian market that has the largest population in South-East Asia
and one of the largest in Asia.
