UAE aid workers join forces with Pakistani Army to rescue flood-victims

Karachi - Oct 9, 2011 (WAM) - A Pakistani top aid official has paid tribute to the UAE relief team for rescuing and feeding thousands of families after taking them to dry and safe sites from regions swept by floods. The UAE humanitarian assistance to Pakistan is delivered upon instructions of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Lt. Colonel Muhammad Amin, Military Relief Coordinator in Sindh Region, said the UAE's initiative to deliver emergency humanitarian assistance had significantly contributed to alleviating suffering of the affected families. He added that the UAE relief team and Pakistani Army had carried out joint relief operations in Mirpur Khas District to pitch 500 tents in the UAE relief camp near the military camp which houses 100 tents.
The UAE relief team draws its members from the UAE Armed Forces, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation and Sharjah Charity Society. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
