du compensates Blackberry subscribers for services disruptions

Abu Dhabi, Oct 13, 2011 (WAM) - Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co, better known as du, in the UAE, said it would compensate individual and corporate BlackBerry customers after a technical failure caused the outage of email, messaging and browsing services.
"In light of the recent degradation that millions of BlackBerry users in the UAE and many parts of the world have experienced over the past few days, which was out of our control, we have decided to compensate our customers," du said in a statement BlackBerry's manufacturer, Research In Motion Ltd, or RIM, blamed the outages, currently affecting customers in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, on an internal technical glitch a failed switch and an inoperable backup. RIM said it expected some data delays after its fix, as it worked to send out a "backlog" of data to users. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
