UAE Ambassador rewarded with Swiss Ambassador's Award

Geneva - October 13, 2011 (WAM) - UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi has been honoured with the Swiss Ambassador's Award for 2011.
Swiss Ambassador to UAE, Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart conferred the award on Al Zaabi in a ceremony held last night at the resident of Dante Martinelli Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations. The ceremony was attended by several members of the UAE mission in Geneva, diplomats and journalists.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Bruelhart said that the award is given to outstanding personalities who are contributing to building bridges of cooperation between the UAE and Switzerland, especially in the economic, commercial, political, scientific and educational fields.
For his part, Al Zaabi expressed his happiness on receiving the award which comes in the context of both sides' efforts to develop bilateral relations in various fields.
Al Zaabi said that bilateral relations between the two countries witness further growth and development in various fields thanks to the efforts of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He divulged that the UAE is Switzerland's largest trading partner in the Gulf and Middle East as trade exchange between the two countries reached AED 8.6 billion in 2010. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
