NSW teen dies after grabbing power line

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 28 - A young NSW man died from an electric shock after he grabbed a high-voltage power line while standing on the roof of a car, police have been told.
Police are investigating the electrocution of the teenager near Port Stephens, north of Newcastle, at 10am on Friday.
He was one of three 18-year-old boys travelling in a Mitsubishi Delica 4WD van in bushland off Ringwood Road, Medowie.
Police have been told the driver stopped the van under some low-hanging high-voltage power lines and the three boys got out.
The driver jumped onto the roof of the car and took hold of one of the power lines.
He was hit with a surge of electricity and thrown from the vehicle.
His friends called triple-zero, and one remained at the scene while the other drove to meet emergency services personnel.
The 18-year-old Medowie man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crime scene was established and police investigations are continuing.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
