Repainted Hat Yai to boost local tourism
HAT YAI, November 2 (TNA) - Hat Yai Municipality in southern Thailand has undertaken a project worth 4 million baht which will see all houses in the city’s main business areas repainted in a bid to stimulate local tourism in the southern commercial hub.
Hat Yai Mayor Prai Pattano said on Wednesday that the municipality has signed the 4 million baht deal with a private operator on a supply of paints for the repainting.
The project is aimed to encourage visits to the city by creating favourable image among tourists and to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 84 birthday anniversary of his majesty the Thai King, he said.
The project covers the city’ main business areas including Nipatuthit Road 1, 2, and 3, and Saneha Nusorn Road. A pilot project is underway on Nipatuthit Road 1, the Hat Yai Mayor said.
The pilot project is nearly completed, he said, noting that so far an array of 223 houses and buildings stretching 37,898 square metres on the road has been repainted. (TNA)
