Malaysia, China Hold Talks To Boost Bilateral, Regional Ties
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and China held talks on boosting
bilateral and regional ties in Putrajaya Wednesday.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here Thursday said the
Malaysian delegation was led by Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Mohd
Radzi Abdul Rahman while the Chinese delegation was headed by its Deputy Foreign
Minister Liu Zhenmin.
The statement also said that both parties exchanged views on various
bilateral and regional issues, especially on agreements achieved at higher level
meetings.
These issues include the implementation and improvement of bilateral
relations between Malaysia and China in commerce, investment, infrastructure
development, education, tourism and health.
Regional issues touched on the South China Sea and East Asia Summit whereby
China repeated its stand on solving conflicts through peaceful negotiations.
China also repeated its support for Asean's role as a key player in the East
Asia Summit, and stated its continuous support for Malaysia's active role in
the region and internationally, the statement added.
Both countries also emphasised on their commitment to step up their
bilateral and regional relations in politics, economy and security.
The talks increased understanding and mutual respect between both
countries on issues of mutual interest, as well as strengthen their bilateral
ties, the statement added.
