KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Governor General of Canada David Lloyd Johnston, who is on a four-day visit to Malaysia, was Monday given an official welcoming ceremony at Parliament Square here. Johnston, who arrived at Parliament Square at 10.10am, was received by Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. Present were Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin as well as cabinet ministers. The national anthems of both countries were played by the first battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, after which Johnston inspected the guard-of-honour mounted by four officers and 102 men of the battalion headed by Major Muhammad Abdullah. A 21-gun salute was fired simultaneously. This is the first state visit by a governor general of Canada to Malaysia.
