US-Based Netgear Penetrates M'sian Mart Via Convergence Networks

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- NETGEAR Inc., a leading United States-based networking company, has established its presence in Malaysia via a partnership with local IT-distributor, Convergence Networks Sdn Bhd. Netgear's Asean Regional Director Soo Kean Thai said the company was embarking on an aggressive partnership and marketing focus to expand its products reach into the Asean markets via established regional value-added resellers and distributors. "Convergence Networks has long been a top-notch distributor of IT solutions for the Malaysian enterprise market. "We see them as instrumental in building our brand in the growing mid-range networking, storage and security equipment local market," he said in a statement Thursday. In Malaysia, NETGEAR provides IT storage and networking offerings to small and midsize businesses (SMBs) and end consumers/home users. Currently, the brand is also present in Singapore and Indonesia, with plans to expand to Thailand next year. NETGEAR has also launched its new version of network attached storage (NAS) systems for highly value-conscious SMBs and home users. Its ReadyNAS systems (ReadyNAS Duo and ReadyNAS NV) is in the sub-RM15,000 price brand for unified storage products. Soo said the new storage version, ReadyNAS systems, doubled its performance at a 30 per cent lower price, than similar products at twice the data access speeds. The NETGEAR storage products have a long three-year warranty and 24/7 support. The NAS storage market grew over 37 per cent to US$3.7 billion last year. -- BERNAMA
