Mercy M'sia To Host International Conference

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- A three-day international conference hosted by Mercy Malaysia here next week will serve as a platform to promote networking between organisations within Malaysia and from overseas towards providing efficient and coordinated aid relief during disasters. Scheduled for Nov 24 to 26, the conference carries the theme "Doing It Better: Transforming Humanitarian Efforts". Mercy Malaysia executive director Zahrah Yaacob said many well-intentioned humanitarian non-profit organisations would often rush into disaster zones offering aid. "However, upon arrival, sometimes we learn that what help we offer may not be what's needed," she said in a statement Thursday. "Thus, it is hoped that the conference will help all parties involved to do it better," she added.
