Call to Popularise Arts And Cultural Activities

KANGAR (Malaysia), Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Perlis Chief Minister Dr Md Isa Sabu has called for arts and cultural activities that can strengthen the identity of the community and foster racial unity to be given a boost. He said the government always tries to foster unity and harmony, and arts and cultural activities contributed to that. Quality arts and cultural products should be patented, he said when speaking at a cultural event of the Perlis Culture and Arts Department here Friday night. "This initiative is important to prevent the piracy of quality products and denying the creators their right," he said. Perlis Culture and Arts Department director Mohd Rizal Ismail said the department would popularise winners of talent programmes to enable them grow their expertise. He said the department scouted for talents from among the various communities, including Indians, Chinese and Siamese, in keeping with the 1Malaysia concept. -- BERNAMA
