Larijani: UK should know that this is only beginning

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani commented on the bill to reduce ties with London and said Britain should know that this is only the beginning. He made the remark here Sunday morning in the parliament after representatives strongly voted in favor of a two-star bill to downgrade political, economic and trade ties with the UK. Describing the act of the parliamentarians as a well-calculated, timely and revolutionary, he said British officials should know that the Iranian Majlis was monitoring their policies. He said the Majlis decision to cut ties with London was just a beginning. Majlis approved the bill in response to a recent decision by the British government to impose sanctions on Iran’s central bank, Bank Markazi Iran. It gives the Iranian Foreign Ministry two weeks to downgrade political ties with the UK to the level of charge d’affaires. The bill requires that the level of economic and trade ties with Britain be dropped to minimum./end
