Six Bigotries That Can Destroy Country From Within - Youth Chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- If movie goers were once entertained by the "Enam Jahanam" (six hooligans) film, the country is now faced by the other version bigotries that could destroy the country from within, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin. He said the six bigotries perpetrated by the opposition could destroy the country's democracy, administrative system, dignity, history, national character and economic prosperity. The Enam Jahanam movie directed by P. Ramlee in 1969 depicts a story about six hooligans, who committed robberies, rapes and murders for quick rich and to satiate their lust in the town of Saroja. Khairy said democracy could be weaken as the opposition incited the people to take to the streets like the Arab Spring of West Asia by fomenting hate campaign against the government although the situation in the country was different from Tunisia, Egypt or Libya. The opposition could destroy the administration by planning to reduce the size of the civil service to ease the burden of the government if it comes to power, he said in his policy speech at the Umno Youth Assembly 2011 here Wednesday. Khairy said the opposition parties had tarnished the national character and discredit the country's leadership when their leaders travelled abroad. He said the opposition had also tried to damage the country's history by heralding communist insurgents, who attacked the Bukit Kepong police station in 1950, as freedom fighters and labelled the slain policemen as British stooges. Khairy claimed that the opposition also tried to destroy the national character by squandering the sanctity of Islam to serve their political interests unlike Umno which fought for the religion, race and nation. He said the economy of the country could be destroyed if the promises made in the opposition's Orange Book were carried out as the national debt could skyrocket to RM617 billion (US$194.11 billion) in the second year of its implementation. The United Malays National Organisation,(abbreviated as UMNO) is Malaysia's largest political party; a founding member of the National Front coalition, which has played a dominant role in Malaysian politics since independence. The UMNO emphasizes as its foundation the struggle to uphold the aspirations of Malay nationalism and the dignity of race, religion and country. -- BERNAMA
