Malaysians Treat Thai Orphanages

BANGKOK, Dec 10 (Bernama) – About 60 Malaysians treated 140 Thai orphanages for Deepavali and Christmas celebrations at the Mahamek Home for Boys, here Saturday. Organiser Silva Kumar, a Malaysian, said the underprivilleged aged between two and 15 years old were treated with some of Malaysia's popular foods like Nasi Lemak, Satay, Capati as well as Thai delicacies. "As the country is experiencing the worst flood in decades, we decided to celebrate the two occasions with the Thai underprivileged instead of celebrating them among Malaysians at the hotel," he said. The event was organised by individuals and not any association. Thailand has just recovered from a four-month flood which left one-third of the country inundated and with a death toll of more than 600. -- BERNAMA
