Namibian FM: Iran’s Resistance Admirable

Tehran, Dec 12, IRNA – Namibian Foreign Minister Utoni Nujoma praised Iran’s resistance in acquiring peaceful nuclear technology despite all pressure. Nujoma made the remark in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi here on Sunday wherein he added that both countries share similar stands on many regional and international issues and in many international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement. Referring to Iran-Namibia relations which date back to Namibia's Independence Day, Nujoma extended his special thanks to the Iranians for their solidarity with and political and spiritual support for Namibia's Independence. He underlined the need for expansion of Iran-Namibia cooperation and said “We must find ways to make plans on expansion of bilateral ties operational. Nujoma expressed his country’s readiness to expand ties with Iran in different fields such as economy, trade, industry and mines, energy and agriculture. He extended the Namibian President’s heartfelt greetings to his Iranian counterpart and officially invited Salehi to pay a visit to Namibia. Salehi pointed to Africa’s high position in Iran’s foreign policy and expressed Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Namibia in various fields. He also expressed Iran’s readiness to broaden ties with Namibia in different fields such as economy, trade, petrochemical industry, energy, joint investment, medicine, industry and mines, technology, agriculture and science./end
