LIMA's Success Due To Print, Electronic Media Support - Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Defence Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has attributed the success of the recent Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) in Langkawi, Kedah to continuous support from the media. Following this success, the exhibition has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest air exhibition since 1991. "The media coverage has helped draw good reception to LIMA...not only from the local residents but foreign visitors, as well," he said when speaking at the 1Mindef Appreciation Night to celebrate the role of the media here Monday night. He also admitted the coverage provided by the media was exceptional. "This included the coverage on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng taking a submarine dive," he said. Ahmad Zahid said the exhibition, for the first time, created record media participation with 353 media representatives attending. "I hope LIMA 2013, and also the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference in April would also receive the continuous cooperation of the media," he said. -- BERNAMA
