Young People Are Superheroes To Make Transformation Programmes Achievable
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Razak
has likened the young people as "superheroes" who earned the power in making the
country's transformation programme a reality.
Admitting that their voice was formidable, he said the government was always
open to hear the views and ideas of youth and also criticisms, so that each of
the transformations pursued would be a success.
"But the young man's voice should not just be criticism, but should come
with the idea of a solution.
"They are like a "superhero" to the country, as having the power to change
and if all the superheroes collaborate with the government, the transformation
programme would more easily become a reality," he said when adressing about 500
students from public and private universities at the close of a three-day youth
summit entitled, 'Shape Our Future' here Monday.
Also present were Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin
and MyHarapan chairman Roslan Bakri Zakaria.
The event which began on Saturday, among others discussed in detail,
selected National Key Result Areas (NKRA) and National Key Economic Areas (NKEA)
and defined what the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP)/Government
Transformation Programme (GTP) meant in the eyes of the country's most valuable
stakeholders.
Najib said the positive feedback was the key to success of each country's
target to achieve developed nation status.
He said at present, the strength of a government was not based on its
military might but in the mind that could be realised for the benefit of the
people.
The prime minister said the government was currently working hard to
bequeath a country which was stable and had a solid foundation for generations
to come.
Najib said he believed that when a torch was passed on to the next
generation, it would mean bequeathing a nation that was stronger and more
prosperous, and it (the next generation) should take it to greater heights.
