Parents Must Set Good Example For Their Children - Malaysian PM's Wife Rosmah

KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Parents must set a good example for their children so that they will grow up having a good character, said the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor Thursday. She said it was important for the family institution to provide a healthy environment for children's development, especially in shaping their personality, character and attitude which would stay with them in adulthood. "If children are brought up with a lot of care, love and noble values, God willing, they will become well-mannered adults who will continue with this style of upbringing after they get married and have families of their own. "A society with morals will help build a nation that is peaceful, stable and harmonious to be inherited by future generations." Rosmah said this at the presentation of certificates to 1,012 children from the Permata Family Development Foundation Kuala Terengganu (YPKT) childcare centres, aged three and four, who took part in a Muqaddam memorising programme, here. Also present were Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Said and wife Norliza Mahmud, State Secretary Mazlan Ngah and YPKT director Mohd Safaruddin Mustaffa. On the Muqaddam learning programme, Rosmah said it was to complement the Permata curriculum for holistic development of children. She also suggested that the children participate in the Permata Insan programme, specially created for smart children with the aim of producing Muslim intellectuals guided by the Quran and Sunnah. She said Terengganu could be a good example in the implementation of the Permata Negara programme, as it had 32 Permata YPKT childcare centres statewide, while 34 Family Childcare Centres had been upgraded to be Permata Family Childcare Centres. "There are also 15 Permata Kemas, two Permata Perpaduan and four Permata Komuniti childcare centres, besides two Anak Permata Negara Centres, bringing the total number in Terengganu to 89," she added. -- BERNAMA
