Writers Of Horror Novels Should Include Religious Values, Says Young Novelist

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Novelists who write on genre involving horror subjects must include religious elements in their novels so that readers would not deviate from their beliefs, said young novelist Ain Maisarah. Ain said since horror novels have become popular among the young generation, the inclusion of positive factors in the novel can help positive values in them, including religious values. "We (writers) are the ones who mould them, so if we write on a horror subject, we need to include religious values so that the young generation will not be misled," she told Bernama after attending Bernama Kid's 1Malaysia Club (BK1MC) programme here Thursday. "I have also written a horror novel titled "Aku Mahu Lawan Hantu" but I have given importance to the religious values. We must understand that youngsters can be attracted to something that is new and sensational," she said. However, though some novels have sensational titles, writers have included contents that provide effective positive educational values that can reach the young generation. The Johor-born writers latest novel titled "Jutawan Gedik" is her 29th in a list of novels largely dedicated to youngsters who are between the 9 to 17 age group. -- BERNAMA
