My Wife Will Not Run For President, Reiterates Susilo

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has reiterated that his wife, Ani Yhudhoyono, will not be the ruling Democratic Party's candidate for the country's presidential election in 2014. Speaking at the Democratic Party's 10th year anniversary celebration here Thursday, Susilo, who is popularly known by his initials "SBY", said he was fed up answering questions on the matter as he clarified this on numerous occasions. In his speech, Susilo, who heads the Democratic Party, said the party had yet to decide on the candidate for the presidential election and that the matter would only be decided when the time came. The candidate would have to be someone accepted by the people, not just the party, he added. Meanwhile, Parti Amanat Nasional (PAN), a component party in Susilo's coalition government, recently announced that it would nominate its leader, Hatta Rajasa, for the 2014 presidential election. Susilo, who is in his second-term as president, is not eligible to contest for the post again. The Golkar party will be nominating its president Aburizal Bakrie for the presidential contest and his nomination has received the support of all the party's 33 branches. An official announcement is due to be made next year. -- BERNAMA
