Usage Of Tablets Can Increase Productivity Of Malaysian Companies

BY Prem Kumar Panjamorthy KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- The productivity of Malaysian companies can be further enhanced by opting for the use of tablets. The Regional Sales Director (Asean) of SonicWall Inc, Ang Chye Hin said currently, few companies practiced the "working from home" concept and if tablets are used instead of laptops, the workplace can be diversified. "This will increase the productivity of companies as employees will have access to the office whenever and wherever they are," he told Bernama in an interview. He said shipments of mobile devices are expected to outstrip PCs over the next one and a half years and the employees in developing and developed economies, will move from IT issued or managed devices like Blackberry to those such as iPhones, iPads, Android or Symbian devices. "Tablet growth is on the rise. This is the current phenomenon in Asean countries, especially Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. "By 2015, tablets are poised to make up 23 per cent of all PC sales. I think it will be fantastic if Malaysian companies can take advantage of this," he added. Meanwhile, Ang said carrying confidential information related to the company and that of customers on tablets, is very fragile and dangerous. Thus, he added, SonicWall, an international Internet security solutions provider has launched the SonicWall Mobile Connect. He said the product provides a secure network level access to corporate resources from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. "It also has an unified policy control to limit access from Apple's mobile operating system, iOS. "Other than that, the product can be used to implement malware prevention, application visibility, control and bandwidth management," he said. -- BERNAMA
