MAHB Aims To Develop Maldives Airport Into Global Airport By 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) together with its partner, GMR Group, aims to develop the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport of the Republic of Maldives (INIA) into a global standard airport by 2014. MAHB and GMR are both involved in managing and developing three other airports internationally including INIA. MAHB managing director Bashir Ahmad said:"The airport (INIA) is well connected with major airports around the world, serving as the main gateway into the Maldives. "It is our aspiration that this partnership will be the bedrock of a longer and endearing collaboration between all parties involved, especially between the governments of Malaysia and Maldives." He said through the joint venture, MAHB would also provide human capital services included transferring and sharing it knowledge in terminal operation, airside operation, ground handling, as well as, airport, fire and rescue services.
