KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Today's batik motifs have taken the interest of younger generation with colours and patterns produced to suit them.
At a recent batik show held in conjunction with the Seri Endon Trophy competition, young designers poured their hearts and souls into batik fabrics and their interesting works drew overwhelming response from the audience, many of whom opted to buy the fabrics immediately after the show. The robust colours and huge floral patterns made the batik fabrics more chic, ideal for the younger generation.
The Seri Endon Gallery, named after the late Endon Mahmood, former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's wife, has been organising batik shows for almost nine years in an effort to encourage young designers to come up with their new ideas and innovations for batik fabrics.
"The gallery has acted as an incubator to assist winners of the Seri Endon Trophy competition as well as batik makers to market their creations," said Nori Abdullah, chairperson of the Malaysia's Yayasan Budi Penyayang, a charitable organisation. (photoBERNAMA)
