Agriculture sector's exports up 19 percent in 2011

ANKARA (A.A) – January 3, 2012 – Turkey's agriculture sector's exports increased 19.07 percent in 2011 when compared to 2010. The Union of Chambers of Agriculture (TZOB) Chairman Semsi Bayraktar said on Tuesday that agriculture sector broke a record in exports last year and reached 17.8 billion USD. It was 15 billion USD in 2010, he added. Bayraktar said that animal products' export was on the first rank with 47.73 percent rise from 962.2 million USD in 2010 to 1.4 billion USD in 2011. He noted that the export of vegetable products increased 17.43 percent from 11.1 billion USD in 2010 to 13 billion USD in 2011. Bayraktar said that the exports of wood and forest products also rose 15.91 percent from 2.9 billion USD in 2010 to 3.3 billion USD in 2011.
