Number of passengers travelling by air hits record figure in 2011

ANKARA (A.A) - The number of passengers travelling by air in Turkey hit a record figure in 2011 and was over 118 million. According to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority of Turkey, a total of 118,425,633 passengers received services in Turkish airports in 2011. The number of passengers travelling by air in Turkey in 2011 went up by 14.4 percent. In 2011, the number of passengers using domestic flights went up 15.3 percent when compared to the previous year and was recorded as 58.3 million. In 2011, the number of passengers using international flights went up 13 percent when compared to the previous year and was recorded as 59.1 million. Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport served the most passengers in 2011 followed by the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and Ankara's Esenboga International Airport.
