Turkish foreign minister meets U.S. congressman

ISTANBUL (A.A) - January 8, 2012 - Turkey's foreign minister came together with U.S. House of Representatives majority leader in Istanbul on Saturday. During the meeting, Ahmet Davutoglu and Eric Cantor discussed Turkish-U.S. relations, Turkish foreign policy and developments in countries around Turkey. Davutoglu said current economic and trade relations did not reflect the real potential, and Turkey and the United States should boost their economic relations. Minister Davutoglu referred to developments regarding North Africa and Middle East, Iraq and Arab Spring, and expressed Turkey's views about issues that were taken up by the U.S. Congress. Earlier on Saturday, Cantor was received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
