DNV Deepwater Technology Centre To Serve Region
By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah
SINGAPORE, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- DNV's new deepwater technology centre (DTC)
here, which will serve the oil and gas industry in Asia-Pacific, aims to become
a sizeable and complete competence centre for deepwater oil and gas
developments.
Its chief operating officer of Asia-Pacific & Middle East, Remi Erikson,
said the company would capitalise on its 40 years of experience in offshore and
deepwater, and on the leading position of its well-established deepwater centres
in Houston, Oslo and Rio de Janeiro.
"DNV’s long track record in research and development, experience in the
deepwater oil and gas industry, and its strong position in developing industry
acclaimed technical standards, will create a perfect strategic fit with
Singapore’s strategy of becoming a hub for deepwater competence in Asia," he
said at the launch of the centre here Monday.
Eriksen said the establishment of the centre has become a reality due to the
cooperation with Singapore’s Economic Development Board.
Earlier, in his speech, Singapore Minister of State for Trade and Industry,
Teo Ser Luck, said DNV and Singapore had enjoyed a strong partnership over the
years.
"With the DTC, Singapore would become DNV’s first and only deepwater hub in
the Asia-Pacific. This will take our partnership to a higher level," he
said.
DNV, established in 1864, has a global presence with a network of 300
offices in 100 countries. It is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
