D.OYUNKHOROL MP MEETS FEF'S OFFICIALS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ President of the Social Democracy Mongolian Women's Association (SDMWA) D.Oyunkhorol MP received on Thursday Mr. Sven Schwersensky, a coordinator for China and Head of the Mongolia Office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FEF). Together with him came Ms. Ch.Oyungerel, a director of the FEF's office in Mongolia.
Mr. Schwersensky congratulated D.Oyunkhorol on becoming a new president of the SDMWA, and promised to support this association. Hoping that a good environment will be created for women's participation in political life this year, Mr. Schwersensky underlined the FEF will always be open for ties with Mongolia.
In turn, D.Oyunkhorol mentioned that the State Great Khural has approved a law on ensuring a gender equality and emphasized that she will pay a special attention to it as the SDMWA's president and a representative of the leading party. "I have submitted to parliament draft laws on family rating, on protecting interests of female households and children," she went on.
"Many projects are being realized today to reduce poverty rate, but there are no concrete results yet. We are studying an opportunity to set up a bank that supports small- and middle-sized business of women-led households," D.Oyunkhorol said and asked Mr. Schwersensky to cooperate in it.
Mr. Schwersensky pointed out that, although Mongolia approved its law on the gender equality, it still lacks some essential rules and regulations for ensuring the gender equality. "The bilateral collaboration may be forwarded if these matters are tackled promptly," he added.
