KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysian striker Safee
Sali's success in sealing a lucrative contract with Indonesian club Pelita Jaya
FC, worth RM2 million for two years, must serve as an example to other players.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Deputy President Tengku Abdullah
Sultan Ahmad Shah said Safee's success was a new chapter in the history of
Malaysian football.
"I hope other players will emulate Safee's success. We hope the player's
success can serve as an inspiration to stimulate others to achieve similar
success.
"The image of the country's football can be elevated when players not only
performed well for the country but go on to play at a higher level," he told
reporters on the sidelines of the ground breaking ceremony for the building of
three bridges in Sungai Lembing, that was graced by his father, Sultan Ahmad
Shah, here Thursday.
Safee's contract is reported to be worth RM91,200 in wages plus match bonus,
house, car, personal driver and commercial endorsements promised.
Tengku Abdullah who wished Safee every success in his playing career, hoped
Safee would go on to play for clubs in Europe.
