M'sia, New Zealand Should Seek Greater Opportunities In Defence Industry - The Crown Prince of Perlis

FROM ADNAN JAHAYA CHRISTCHURCH, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and New Zealand should seek greater opportunities in the domain of defence industries and services, said the The Crown Prince of Malaysia Northern state, Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. He said the various existing forums, exhibitions and bilateral cooperation on them would benefit both countries in many aspects such as security, economy and social. "Both countries also can learn from each other and share experience in dealing with landslides, floods and earthquakes," said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin after visiting the Air Force Museum here Thursday. The museum houses various aircraft and military equipment used decades ago by New Zealand troops. The Raja Muda, who also commander of the 504 Territorial Army regiment, said presently, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) was fast becoming and important non-traditional security issue for militaries around the region. "This is where Malaysia and New Zealand can engage each other bilaterally or multilaterally through the Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) forum to enhance their respective HADR capabilities, "he said. According to the Raja Muda, New Zealand had enormous experience in dealing with earthquakes while Malaysia had dealt with landslide and flood disasters and thus both countries could share their experience because disasters could strike in different and unexpected forms.
