greater opportunities in the domain of defence industries and services, said the

He said the various existing forums, exhibitions and bilateral cooperation
on them would benefit both countries in many aspects such as security, economy
and social.
"Both countries also can learn from each other and share experience in
dealing with landslides, floods and earthquakes," said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin
after visiting the Air Force Museum here Thursday.
The museum houses various aircraft and military equipment used decades ago
by New Zealand troops.
The Raja Muda, who also commander of the 504 Territorial Army regiment, said
presently, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) was fast becoming
and important non-traditional security issue for militaries around the region.
"This is where Malaysia and New Zealand can engage each other bilaterally
or multilaterally through the Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) forum to
enhance their respective HADR capabilities, "he said.
According to the Raja Muda, New Zealand had enormous experience in dealing
with earthquakes while Malaysia had dealt with landslide and flood disasters and
thus both countries could share their experience because disasters could strike
in different and unexpected forms.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin further expressed his hope that Malaysia and New
Zealand would continue to maintain and enjoy warm and cordial defense relations.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, who is also Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia
Perlis (Malaysia University of Perlis - UniMAP), is on a five-day visit to New
Zealand in leading UniMAP's "Kembara Ilmu" (Expanding Knowledge) programme to
the country.
