Malaysia Records US$39.68 Bil Investments Between Jan-Nov 2011
TAIPING (Perak, Malaysia), Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia attracted RM120
billion (US$39.68 billion) in investments between January and November last
year, dispelling claims that Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's
administration had failed to honour the promise to bring about economic
transformation to the country.
Malaysia International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Mukhriz Tun
Mahathir said total investments surpassed the RM115 billion (US$37.99 billion)
target set by the government for last year.
"We have surpassed our target for last year based on the Jan-Nov figures
excluding December...total investments, thus far, is RM120 billion while our
target was RM115 billion.
"This figure is only up to November. In my opinion, it's very clear that we
cannot accept his (former American ambassador to Malaysia John Malott) critical
comments," he told reporters after opening the Digital Engineering Design
Centre here Thursday.
Mukhriz was commenting on the criticisms hurdled by Malott against the prime
minister and Barisan Nasional (National Front) in an article titled ""Testing
Malaysia's Promises" published in the Jan 12 issue of Wall Street Journal.
