Najib Attends Chinese New Year Dinner Organised By Genting Group

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak on Thursday night attended a Chinese New Year dinner organised by the Genting Group at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here. Also present at the dinner themed "Time for Sharing and Caring - A Celebration with the Community" was Chairman of the Genting Group and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Community Chest, Lim Kok Thay (left). Najib (second from left) later received paintings of him from student representatives of schools funded by The Community Chest. Earlier, Lim, in his speech, said four months after the official launch of The Community Chest, it had completed its donation project to 21 schools. "Come September, one year from our launch, we target to complete about 97 per cent of our 61 school funding projects. "The balance of three per cent or two school projects are dependent on the approval of state and local authorities for land building matters," he said. Last September, Najib launched the The Community Chest to help vernacular schools and missionary schools that are in need of funding to improve their school facilities and buildings.
