WREATHS LAID FOR ANNIVERSARY OF "NIISLEL KHUREE"

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Thursday, Ulaanbaatar city authorities laid wreaths to the statue of the State Stamp, located in the Government House's rear garden. The ceremony has been dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the day when the city was given a status of the "Niislel Khuree", the capital city. The history says that a foundation stone of Ulaanbaatar city was laid near lake Shireet Tsagaan in what is now in Ovorkhangai aimag's Burd soum. In 1778, after 28 moves, the city settled at its current location, near the confluence of the Selbe and Tuul rivers and beneath Bogd Khaan Mountain. After the declaration of the independence of Mongolia, the city was declared as "Niislel Khuree"--the capital of Bogd Khaan's Mongolian Kingdom in 1912. It was the country's politics, economics, culture and Buddhism center. B.Khuder
