Work With M'sian Investors, Middle East Investors Told
By Nur Syuhada Shamsudin
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Middle East investors were today
asked not to miss the opportunity to forge business ties with their Malaysian
counterparts for the progress of the global community.
In making the call, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA)
chairman Sulaiman Mahbob said agriculture, services and manufacturing are
potential sectors that promised lucrative returns.
"They can also participate in the hotel, property, halal goods and
healthcare as we (Malaysia) provide various attractive incentives," he told
BERNAMA after tabling a working paper entitled "Investment Opportunities in
Malaysia" at an Islamic trust organisation conference.
Sulaiman said Malaysia has its own significance in that its economy was
managed prudently, the country has skilled manpower and offers various
incentives to investors.
"There's no limit in the amount of foreign capital to be brought into the
country. Malayia's strength is not only in wooing investments, but also
allowing foreign investors to repatriate profits and interests accrued to their
home country," he said.
Sulaiman said many investors were anxious to know how Malaysia developed
the manufacturing sector and promote investment opportunities in the country.
About 80 foreign delegates, including 28 would-be investors from Saudi
Arabia, Qatar, Sudan, Egypt and the United Kingdom are attending the conference
held for the first time in Malaysia.
The UK-based Badan Amanah Al-Muntada Al-Islami is an independent
organisation established to meet the local communities' needs.
Currently, it has several activity centres worldwide.
