Ten Injured In Yala Bomb Attack

BY JAMALUDDIN MUHAMMAD BANGKOK, Feb 14 (Bernama) –- Rangers continued to be insurgents' attack targets in Thailand's south. On Monday, two rangers and eight security volunteers were injured in a bomb attack in Yala province. A Police spokesman said they were patrolling in a pick-up in Bannang Sata district when a bomb buried by the roadside exploded at about 1.30pm. The bomb was believed to have been detonated by militants, the police spokesman added. Rangers have become the target of attacks in the south lately following the incident where four civilians were allegedly shot dead by rangers in Pattani province late last month. More than 4,000 people have died since suspected separatists resumed their armed campaign to seek independence for the three southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala eight years ago. -- BERNAMA
