No Malaysian Victim In Bangkok Bomb Blast

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- There were no reports of Malaysian casualities during the bomb blasts in Bangkok Tuesday, said the foreign ministry. In a statement, the ministry said it received a report earlier from the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok that the explosion occurred at 4.15pm local time at Sukhumvit Soi 71 in the Thai capital, killing a local and injuring three others. In a separate statement, the ministry and the Malaysian Embassy in Damsyik, Syria, jointly advised Malaysian students to return home immediately in the face of a worsening situation which could threaten security. The statement also urged Malaysians who wanted to visit Syria to temporarily shelve their plans. "We are constantly monitoring the situation. All 200 Malaysians registered with the embassy are safe and are not involved in the riots and violence. "Malaysians in Syria who have not registered should do so at the embassy," it said. -- BERNAMA
