Malaysian Police On High Alert For Bangkok Bomber

By Norazurra Aziz KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Federal police are on high alert for an Iranian linked to a failed attack in Bangkok to assassinate Israeli diplomats, who is believed to have slipped into Malaysia. Bukit Aman public relations officer ACP Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the police, in collaboration with Interpol, were monitoring the case since a series of explosions occurred in Bangkok Tuesday. "At the moment, we are still waiting for (related) information from Interpol," he told Bernama when contacted Wednesday. According to international news agencies, Thai authorities have detained the Iranian's two accomplices in connection with the explosions. One of the men, identified as Saeid Morati, 28, according to a passport found in his possession, lost his legs when he tried to hurl an explosive device at a Thai police car while fleeing from an earlier blast at a house in Bangkok. The other was detained as he tried to board a flight out of Thailand. A third suspect is believed to have fled to Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
