Sufficient Evidence To Indict Bombing Suspects - Thai Police

By Jamaluddin Muhammad BANGKOK, Feb 16 (Bernama) -– The police have sufficient evidence to indict the Iranian suspects in Tuesday's three bombing incidents in this capital, although one of them has denied involvement. National Police Chief Police General Priewpan Damapong said the evidence included eye-witness accounts and forensic tests. The suspect, who was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport here Tuesday as he was about to leave the country, had denied involvement in the incidents through an interpreter, he told reporters today here. He said police had established the identity of the third suspect who fled to Malaysia on a 10.20pm flight Tuesday. (Note: Malaysian police detained the third suspect at 3.30pm Wednesday, under the Malaysian Immigration Act, following intelligence provided by their Thai counterparts. Malaysian Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar said in a statement the suspect was under investigation for terrorism activities in relation to bombings in Thailand) Three bombs rocked this capital yesterday, including an incident where an Iranian man lost his legs when a bomb he hurled at a police patrol car, ricocheted and struck him at Sukhumvit 71 Road, here. So far, Thai police have detained two Iranian suspects, including the injured suspect who is being treated at a hospital here. An Iranian woman is at large. All four had rented a house near the Sukhumvit 71 Road which was partly damaged by one of the blasts. -- BERNAMA
